5/16/2016 37 Comments Hobby colour markers reviewHOBBY COLOUR MARKERSI bought a set markers of the brand hobby colour a month ago to test them out. And o my goshhhh THEY ARE AMAYZING!! and yesterday i bought the other 2 sets they have they have only 3 sets: Pastels,Essentials,Brights. They are just like copic markers but they have diffrent nibs and they only sell sets of 12. 1 set of 12 markers cost only €15,00 !! But where can you get them? You can only get them in Holland in a store called: boekenvoordeel winkel i searched everywhere for these markers online but i could not find any information about the company or the markers. WHAT DO I LIKE ABOUT THEM? I love that they are like copics, and that they are not expensive. the colors in the sets are really pretty i love the pastel set the most of the three set that they have. i also really love the way the packed the markers the package looks alot like the PRO MARKERS package. WHAT DON'T LIKE ABOUT THEM? I don't like that they only sell sets and that they only have three sets. They also don't blend that well with each other.. So yes i really like these markers!! i recomend these for you if you live in the netherlands and you don't want to buy copics because they are expensive. These markers are really fun to work with " And no i am not sponsored to talk about them ( i wish tho ahah.. )" SWATCHES

Hi! I noticed in your post that you recommend these markers to people that live in the netherlands. I live in the U.S. and bought two of these packs (The Essentials and the Brights) from a store called Marshals which is a retail store that sells marked down items and they do not have the third set (The Pastels) and I was wondering if you knew a website I could go on to order the last set. I love these markers and would really like to have that last set!

Just wondered.....are these markers safe for kids to use based on the toxcitity? I know they are alcohol based and my 11 year old daughter would like a set. Unsure if alcohol-based markers are safe and mon toxic??

Hey!! Alcohol markers of this type are usually fairly safe, especially when your kids are older than like 6 or so. An 11 year old probably has enough common sense to not put the marker in their mouth, but even if they did, there is a really low risk that it could cause any sickness at all. Just knowing from my experience of working with alcohol markers, sometimes you can get a bit of staining on your fingers if you're kind of clumsy (like me), but it's only color left behind, your skin doesn't absorb anything toxic from the markers. A day or two and it'll fade right away. Based on the current popular sort of art trends, I would say that alcohol markers are 100% the best option. Not only do they work really well for beginning artists, but several other types of markers are LEAGUES more toxic. I don't blame you for worrying about safety! I've seen a lot of paint markers recently that often do have toxic properties, and not everyone is aware of that. I really recommend you stick to alcohol-based markers because of the quality and the safety compared to many other forms of markers.

Hey!! Thanks for the post!! At the TJ Maxx where I work (tj maxx is the company that owns Marshall's, mentioned in an earlier reply!) we have a couple of sets of these markers. I was contemplating buying them, but before I do, I want to know the composition. Are they alcohol based or water based markers?

Thanks so much for the reply!! We don't have that many sets, and they're not products that we carry regularly.

Woah!! That's amazing that you found that out. I had heard previously about the Spectrum Noir markers, so to find out that the Hobby Colour markers are akin to them is really cool.

On the back of my markers the company name is CC International LLC. (I am thinking the CC stands for Crafter's Companion because their address is an exact match.)

Hi Sandi, If you still have this set and are willing to sell it to me, I would love to buy them from you. I have the "Essentials" and "Brights"and have been looking everywhere for the "Pastels" but I guess they are now called "Neutral". I messaged you on Facebook as well.

I am thrilled to hear these comments - I bought a set of Essentials while in the check-out lane at TJMAXX today! I noticed how much they look like Spectrum Noir - which mostly sells sets of shades of "red", "purple" etc.

I have 4 sets of hobby colour markers (pastels, neutrals, essentials, brights. I bought them all at TJMaxx/Marshalls. I am looking for 1 more set of the pastels, which I cannot find. Since I bought the neutrals and pastels Dec.2015,I'm guessing they are no longer made. I bought essentials and brights this week at Marshalls. TJMaxx,Marshalls and Tues. Morning are stores that sell closed out items. The Spectrum Noir markers that are 6/pk. of individual colors ( reds, blues, greens, etc.) ,are carried at JoAnn Fabrics and A.C.Moore craft stores and also on line.

I got a set for $12.99 @ Marshalls in Rockville Md near where I live. I think they're great! I would say they're on par with Spectrum Noir with giving a better edge to SN. Not in the same league as Copic or Prismacolor premier. I think the Hobby Colour markers are just one of those things you have to buy when you can find them and don't get hooked on them until you can find a regular source. I think they may come from the UK given the way colour is spelled.

I found the neutrals at homesense - they're still hobby colours too. There was another set that I am regretting not buying now. I am in Canada also.

I found these sets of markers on the US art supply website Nasco Arts & Crafts (www.enasco.com). I'm an art teacher and that's where I order all of my art supplies from. I don't know if they ship out of country, though.
